Under the patronage of His Excellency the Honorable Minister of Finance, Ms. Taif Sami Muhammad, and under the supervision of Ms. Israa Saleh Dawoud, Head of the Insurance Bureau. On Monday morning, 5/6/2024, at the Insurance Bureau headquarters, Mr. Abdul Baqi Reda Hall, a workshop was held on (Governance of Insurance Companies) in cooperation with the Governance Foundation for Directors, the strategic partner of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Mr. Muthanna Al-Hamdani, the Corporation’s Financial Director, gave a speech in which he stressed that this workshop aims to activate and support the private and public sectors by spreading the culture of governance (good management) to build the correct foundations for companies according to international standards to ensure the continuation of their work, activate their activity, and increase their profits.
The Miss Chief of the Bureau also gave a speech in which she explained the Insurance Bureau’s endeavor to issue a corporate governance guide, which will be the government’s minimum standards, after being guided by the experience of the Central Bank of Iraq and the competent authorities in this field.
At the conclusion of this workshop, companies working in the insurance field were directed to the necessity of preparing their cadres through training until the Bureau issues a governance guide, in addition to applying institutional governance practices in their companies as one of the basic conditions for reducing risk and providing better service to this vital sector.
