Under the patronage of Her Excellency the Minister of Finance, Ms. Taif Sami Muhammad, and under the direct supervision of Ms. Israa Saleh Daoud, Head of the Insurance Bureau, a technical workshop entitled (Basics and Technical Aspects of Ship Hull Insurance, Maritime Cargo Transport, and Combating International Maritime Fraud) was held on Thursday, 12/12/2024, at the Insurance Bureau. The lecture was given by Mr. Shahab Al-Anbaki / Al-Sharq Insurance Company and Mr. Mustafa Abu Qura / Kar Insurance Company, in the presence of a number of representatives of insurance companies and Bureau employees. Mr. Al-Anbaky began his speech by defining the importance of marine insurance as one of the oldest types of insurance that can be subscribed to as insurance that constitutes an important element in the Iraqi, Arab and international insurance market, provided that the insurance products provided to the insured are understandable, balanced, useful and compatible with the applicable regulations that include the reliability of the information provided to them as well as the fair treatment of these persons by the insurance company. In the same context, Mr. Mustafa Abu Qura explained that marine insurance and its importance to the insured will provide legal, banking and financial guarantees as it is a legal agreement between the insured and the insurance company in addition to the company bearing the burdens of the risks resulting from what was contracted in the insurance documents. In addition, questions were raised by the attendees and discussed objectively. The Insurance Bureau was keen to emphasize and give great attention to holding seminars and workshops due to their great importance in developing the insurance sector in Iraq to advance it to be an important partner and competitor with the insurance markets of neighboring Arab and international countries.
