During her meeting with the Managing Director of the Iraqi Association of Insurers and Reinsurers, Mr. Falah Hassan, and a number of employees from the National Insurance Company, Israa Saleh Dawood, Chairperson of the Insurance Bureau, emphasized the importance of adopting the Safety and Prevention Certificate as one of the basic requirements for issuing a fire insurance policy. This reinforces the foundations of public safety and risk prevention.<\/p>

The Chairperson explained that adopting this certificate is not limited to legal and regulatory aspects, but rather constitutes an important technical pillar in the insurance underwriting process, directly contributing to reducing the likelihood of accidents and protecting lives and property. She added that adhering to the safety conditions and requirements emphasized by the Civil Defense Directorate’s instructions is essential to ensuring a stable work environment and providing the necessary protection for facilities.<\/p>

She pointed out that requiring a safety certificate reflects facilities’ commitment to implementing fire prevention standards, such as installing alarm and firefighting systems, providing emergency exits, and training employees on proper emergency response. This will reduce insurance risks and avoid significant losses.<\/p>

The Bureau’s President emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between insurance companies and Civil Defense Directorates to establish the foundations for a comprehensive preventative culture that contributes to creating a safer and more stable environment and enhances public confidence in the importance of insurance as a tool for protecting individuals and institutions.<\/p>

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Bureau’s President announced preparations for a joint meeting with the Civil Defense Directorate, attended by the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers, with the aim of developing an integrated working mechanism that complies with technical marketing requirements and ensures the effectiveness of preventive measures as a basis for issuing fire insurance policies.<\/p>
